Synopsis: Melinda has foiled Osiris at every turn, but the deadly Egyptian impostor has finally discovered the perfect soul to keep him company in the afterlife: hers. Now, in the conclusion to this first Ghost Whisperer comic book miniseries, Melinda has to fight to survive as she tries to uncover once and for all the secret of Osiris: his true identity and his tragic history. Can she help this angry soul cross over, or will the final battle cost Melinda her own life?
Opinion: The ending is in sight! Ghost Whisperer #5 is out! I must say it has much of the same good points and bad points as the other issues. At least in this issue we find out who the Egyptian God haunting Melinda is.

Issue #4 had a breakthrough in the case and Melinda’s professor friend at the University realized one of his students from a previous year had died. In this issue since Melinda is getting close to finding out who she is, the ghost takes it upon herself to try and kill Melinda.
This is all good, well, and exciting however the climax to this story spanning 5 issues was anything but. Remember how I kept bringing up the problem the other issues seemed to have about focusing on teenage girls and their many problems? Well my theory was that this ghost haunting Melinda would be another teenage girl and that maybe she empathized with the other girls. My theory was wrong. It turns out the Egyptian God is a college student, a very intelligent college student! Melinda’s professor friend remembered how much potential she had and how she was going to be able to go far with her intelligence. This is not the type of girl to “empathize” or even “sympathize” with teenage angst.
Not only is she painted as an intelligent adult woman, but she’s stuck on earth because she’s upset with her parents! Who gives a crap! Get over it! No one is really happy with all their parents decisions and as the child you just have to deal with it. This, being the ghost’s only problem as to why she has not crossed over tends to make the ending very anti-climatic. The authors might have tried to portray more attempts on Melinda’s life maybe that would have livened it up!
These are really my only problems with this comic, other than the teenage drama this story line turned out to be really exciting and followed the idea of the hit TV show well. I do hope the artists will continue with the story line, my one request is for a more adult perspective.

1Lol yeah, that is kind of anti-climactic.
I enjoy watching the tv show now and then, but I don’t like it enough to get into the comic book. Even so, it sounds like it’s at least respectful of the show.
Good review!
