Storyline: Secret Invasion Tie-In
Date: June 25th, 2008
Price: $2.99
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artists: Khoi Pham
Synopsis: WHATEVER HAPPENED TO—–? Rewinding the clock to Avengers Disassembled we reveal how one of the main players in SECRET INVASION was replaced by a Skrull and what the fallout has been. A major SECRET INVASION chapter is here! Oh, but you want to know exactly who we’re talking about right? Spoilers, dude!
Opinion: As we continue through the Secret Invasion, we watch heroes and heroines revel themselves as actually being shape-shifting aliens who have come to take over the earth. This creates another story in of itself as many fans are left wondering just how the real people were switched with their alien counterpart in the first place.

Synopsis: Its Avenger versus Avenger. Hero versus hero! Norman Osborn versus Captain
Marvel?? The Initiative versus an army of Super-Skrulls? Is Tony Stark really a- -? And who’s that guy with an eye patch coming to save the day?? And, oh man, who did he bring with him?
Opinion: The @#!& has hit the proverbial fan in the Marvel Universe as we watch the continued attacks of the Skrull Empire upon Earth in this third installment of this summer’s Secret Invasion event. Needless to say, things are bad. Really bad. In fact, the Skrulls are so convinced of their apparent victory that they offer the Director of Shield a complete and unconditional surrender. Yeah folks, things aren’t looking good.

Storyline: Invaders Part 1 (of 12)
Date: May 7th, 2008
Price: $2.99 US
Writer: Jim Krueger and Alex Ross
Artist: Steve Sadowski
Synopsis: The original Invaders (Captain America , Bucky , Human Torch , Toro , and the Sub-Mariner) return in a twelve issue maxi-series by the award winning team behind EARTH X, Justice and Project Superpowers .The greatest super-team of World War II finds themselves transported from the battlefields of the Second World War to a future they never imagined! Now, the Invaders find themselves confronted by two teams of Avengers who want desperately to believe these heroes are who they say they are, while Tony Stark faces his greatest challenge since the Civil War as he must deal with the “return” of Steve Rogers. Confronted by a world they barely recognize, the Invaders will have to show two teams of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes just what kind of power, courage and sheer determination it took to defeat the forces of unrelenting evil in the Twentieth century. In fact…they may just have to do it again in the Twenty-First.
Opinion: Avengers Invaders is the first book of a series dealing with the idea of a time warp. The comic does a great job of detailing the super heroes of World War 2 and their strengths, powers, and quirks. It’s all narrated by one of the human infantry that worked with them in the war. The art in the part of the book is great, showing the battle scenes and the true horror that a war can bring

Storyline: Secret Invasion
Date: May 7, 2008
Price: $3.99 US
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artists: Leinil Francis Yu, Mike Morales, Laura Martin
Synopsis: The Invasion is here!! The Marvel Universe is in shambles. The Skrull Empire’s plan has birthed itself into perfection. It is hero versus hero!! Resurrections and reunions!! Is Tony Stark a Skrull? And is that actually Captain America leading the heroes into a new era?? EXPECT CHANGE!!
Opinion: Well, to put it lightly, the #!@& has hit the fan!!! We see heroes old and new squaring off, but that is not news to anyone, you just knew after the end of Secret Invasion #1 that there was bound to be a smackdown. What we didn’t expect was the return of a sexy bird thought long dead at the hands of Mephisto and Hawkeye wraps his hands around the familiar to save her! The part featuring Tony Stark going to work seemed a bit cheesy, especially since it brought up memories from the recent Iron Man flick. I also want to point out the page where the old vs. new hero smackdown gets interrupted - I don’t want to spoil anything… but not ONE bubble? Absolutely no one, Skrull or otherwise was surprised by that interruption!?

Storyline: Secret Invasion Part 1 ( of 8 )
Date: April 2, 2008
Price: $3.99 US
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Artist: Leinil Francis Yu
Synopsis: The shape-shifting alien race known as the Skrulls has secretly infiltrated every super-powered organization on Earth with one goal…full-scale invasion! Brian Bendis and Leinil Francis Yu leap off the pages of mega-hit New Avengers and deliver a story that will change the Marvel Universe forever. The shocking reveals, powerful action and pulse-pounding page after page will keep you on the edge of your seat as Marvel’s greatest heroes and villains must ask…Who Do You Trust?
Opinion: I think I can speak for a lot of fans out there when I say that we are all a bit tired of events. After the anticlimactic resolutions in some of the more recent big stories, the onset of Marvel’s Secret Invasion on the surface seemed to be a tired rehash of an old throwback. It had seemed like the house of ideas had simply run out and this is all we had left. Read my take on Secret Invasion #1 after the jump.
