Hello dear readers!  I apologize from the bottom of my comic boxes that this site has gone silent.  I had to choose between school and this site for a period of time and you can’t blame me for choosing school.

Additionally, all of the writers I brought in weren’t being as consistent as ComicNerd needed, so the torch wasn’t carried there either.

A lot of things are going to be happening over the next several months.  ComicNerd will be undergoing a transformation that makes this site easier to navigate and I think you will enjoy it.

In the meantime, I noticed a lot of comment sections are still active, which is awesome!  I know how much of a pain in the but it can be to load the entire post and discuss things only in comment sections.  I am hoping while ComicNerd goes through it’s changes, you can take your conversations over to our…..

NEW FORUMS!

Making an account is a breeze, and you’ll be posting in no time.

Enjoy!

StumpedHello and welcome to our weekly wrap-up! “But it’s Tuesday!” you say? Yes, but everyone knows that the week doesn’t officially start until tomorrow: New Comics Day!

Hello there, long time, no see huh?  Yeah ComicNerd has been getting the stepchild treatment as school & work has demanded more of my time.  Fortunately, I have had some excellent help from our key writers Stephanie and Red Padilla!  They have done an awesome job keeping new stuff up for you guys - This site would be in big trouble without those two.  Be sure to comment on their articles guys!  Conversation is what keeps this site so exciting.  It’s easy, free and you don’t even have to register - so talk to your writers!

Speaking of writers, it looks like I need to recruit some more.  We’re losing some due to time constraints and others due to the same obligations I have.  We’re always looking for more - so if you are interested in writing for the site, please feel free to contact me and let me know what you’re interested in.

Other than that, not too much to cover right now with the downswing everyone has going on.  I promise this will change over time, we’re experiencing growing pains while we have minimal manpower.  It’s actually a pretty common problem with sites this size.  Stick it out with us dear readers, it can only get better!

Ok, let’s get started with what’s up…

Click through the jump to get the full rundown from the last week and a full review of what’s coming in the world of comics this Wednesday on August 20th!

Welcome to Variant Watch where each week I’ll be discussing the new hot variant covers of the week.  As all comic collector’s know, each week on Wednesday Comic book Santa Claus flies around to every comic shop in the world delivering that week’s new comics and there is much celebration.

Now the avid collectors also know that with each shipment of new comics comes a select few variant covers of regular issues.  Why are they special you ask?  No, not because they cost two-to-fifty times that of the regular issues.  Variants are rare and “rare” is a word that comic collectors both love and hate.  When you have a “rare” book you love it.  When you are looking at “rare” books on Ebay and questioning your station in life because you can’t even picture a time when you’ll be able to drop $500.00 on a comic book, “rare” can be an awful term.

[Editor's note:  Weekly Variant Watch was postponed last week due to the late comic shipping.   Because we only post M-F, this column was not completed until the end of the week, so I chose to post it now.  Normally you would see this post every Thursday]

smile-robot1.jpgHappy Monday folks, and welcome to our weekly feature, Monday Movie Mayhem! Where we cover movie and TV nerd-related news for all the ComicNerd.com readers out there!

Unfortunately folks, this is the very last installment of “Monday Movie Mayhem!”, it’s just not proving to be very popular and I think it might be better to just post movie news as it comes rather than giving you ‘old news’ every Monday morning.  So, for this last installment, let me bring to you the normal format one more time.  Look out for in-depth movie reviews just like the one we did for The Incredible Hulk on ComicNerd as well!

This week we have a lot of trailers, so prepare a cup of coffee and get ready to be teased!  First up is the synopsis of the X-Men Origins: Magneto film, based on the actual screenplay itself.   We have the first trailer for The Day The Earth Stood Still remake, starring Keanu Reeves.  Another new trailer for The X-Files: I Want to Believe sequel, set to release later this month.  There is a trailer as well for The Mutant Chronicles, set to release sometime this year and starring Thomas Jane and Ron Perlman.  I’m still not sure how I feel about that one.  A relatively uninteresting promo pic from the upcoming X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie has been released.  We have some news about who’s going to be in Smallville season 8.  Finally, we have some news about a film based on The Goon comic series.

Click through the jump to be overwhelmed by nerdy movie goodness!
