Synopsis: Beware the return of…Starhawk! First it was the recovery of a certain world-famous shield…and now the enigmatic Starhawk reigns death from above! How and why is this original Guardian of the Galaxy here in our reality, and what does his ominous arrival mean for our motley crew of freedom fighters?
Opinion:Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning keep cranking out the fun with their cosmic stories with Guardians of the Galaxy #3, where as the cover and the synopsis suggest, we get the return of Starhawk. Who is Starhawk you might be asking? Only the reason the original Guardians of the Galaxy formed! This comic packs a formula mix of action and comedy with a small pinch of seriousness, which seems to be the status quo for these excellent writers. Find out more about Starhawk and read my full review of Guardians of the Galaxy #3 after the jump!

Storyline: Legacy
Date: June 18th, 2008
Price: $2.99
Writer: Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning
Artist: Paul Pelletier
Synopsis: Groot is here! And so is…hey, wasn’t he sunk in Antarctica? One day on the job, and our cosmic protectors have already made themselves a major new enemy! But how does that connect to Adam Warlock’s mystical past? Could it really be the threat he’s spent years trying to deny? And exactly what or who have the Guardians discovered frozen & adrift in space? It can’t be…can it?
Opinion: The cosmic story of a team of powerful misfits once again provides some good chuckles, fun action, an interesting story and an excellent way of keeping the reader in the loop. The mini-interviews are fun (and informative) and the art is crisp and clear. Cap’s shield though? Is that a cheap maneuver or simply good timing? You decide after the jump.

All this…plus a wise-cracking raccoon and a telepathic dog!
C’mon, people, time to lock and load!
Opinion: Guardians of the Galaxy was so much fun! I didn’t end up buying the Annihilation mini’s, and I was worried that when i bought this book I was going to feel a little lost… but nope! Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett did an excellent job introducing each character and explaining a bit about who they are, what they do and what type of personalities they have.
I am not very familiar with the new Warlock, Quasar, Rocket Raccoon, Dax the Destroyer, Gamora, Star-Lord or any of the other minor characters - but it didn’t even matter. In one introductory issue I became familiar with the situation, the characters and became interested in the mystery.
This is definitely a book I plan on getting into, and I just might go back and buy the annihilation trades, if this book is any indication of the quality going into Marvel’s new space titles.
