Storyline: Payback is a Bitch
Date: July 30, 2008
Price: $2.99
Writer: Cary Bates
Artists: Paul Gulacy
Synopsis: Super heroes running a female fight club? Unbelievable perhaps, but it’s a tale of depravity that will send shockwaves across the globe once the sordid details appear on a podcast uploaded by the TRUE BELIEVERS! Who are these counter-culture subversives with strange powers and abilities who have proclaimed themselves ‘warriors of the information age’? The True Believers not only speak truth to power, they wield it like a weapon using it to root out lies and deception, cover-ups and conspiracies wherever they find them. Whether it’s S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Illuminati, HYDRA or Weapon X, the CIA or the CSA, no target is too big and no one is off-limits—including a wary superhuman community with plenty of its own secrets to hide!
Opinion: True Believers issue #1 looks to be a very promising story line. If you read my reviews you’ll know I’m a big fan of mysteries and this new story line is all about solving crimes. Of course it wouldn’t be a comic if super heroes didn’t solve those crimes but that’s what makes this story so interesting!

Hello ComicNerds! This is the fourth week in a really hard class that’s part of my accelerated program. Almost done though! As such, though, I need to take some time to focus on that work for a bit and prioritize over ComicNerd.com. Luckily though, we have such an excellent backlog of posts AND some great writers on staff who can satisfy your nerdy appetite!
So, take some time and check out some of these previous posts that really show off how awesome ComicNerd.com is!
There, I hope that will tide you over for a bit. Thanks for reading! Please be on the lookout for brand new posts throughout the week and on!
SPOILER ALERT: If you haven’t seen The Dark Knight yet, stop reading right now!
Apparently the interwebz is all a-buzz concerning the fate of our favorite fallen hero. Some are upset because of how he ultimately wound up and the fact that they took time out at the end to actually have a funeral for him. Click through the jump to see why this might not be set in stone and could be a setup for the third movie.

Hello and welcome to our weekly wrap-up! “But it’s Tuesday!” you say? Yes, but everyone knows that the week doesn’t officially start until tomorrow: New Comics Day!
What an exciting time to be a ComicNerd!!! First we had Iron Man, then the Incredible Hulk then Hellboy 2: The Golden Army and now we get The Dark Knight! To top all of that comic movie goodness off, we also get the exciting debut of Uncanny X-Men #500!!! I am SO excited for this!
Speaking of The Dark Knight, hopefully by now you have paid your way into the IMAX experience and taken in Nolan’s sequel. If you’re lucky you’ve seen it more than once and even if not, it looks like people are enjoying it. Well, ComicNerd has an exclusive HUGE review of The Dark Knight up right now. GO READ IT RIGHT AWAY!
Now, I want to touch on this. I know ComicNerd is a comic book review site, and I do apologize that we have been a bit gobbled up by the movie excitement going on. Seems like it’s just a Batman movie blog lately, huh? Well, not to worry; we will be continuing our regularly scheduled comic book reviews starting tomorrow. We will be starting with Mice Templar #5, reviewed by our very own Greg “Red” Padilla, who also needs to be congratulated for getting a letter published in Mice Templar this month! Good job man!
Also, our very own talented writer Stephanie did a great interview with Top Cow’s new series writer of Broken Trinity , Ron Marz. Congrats Stephanie!
Ok, let’s get started with what’s up…
Click through the jump to get the full rundown from the last week and a full review of what’s coming in the world of comics this Wednesday on July 23rd!

Storyline: Clyde Wyncham
Date: June 25th, 2008
Price: $3.99
Writer: Mark Millar
Artist: Tommy Lee Edwards
Synopsis: Marvel’s most deadly villains have a foothold in the real world—but who will believe the only person who knows the truth, when that person is a 13-year old kid named Toby who’s read way too many comic books? Fortunately, it seems that Toby has an ally—the Incredible Hulk! Can even the Hulk survive the most titanic throw-down with Juggernaut in comic book history? Find out in this epic clash of super hero action…and ponder—who is Clyde Wyncham?
Opinion: The second edition of 1985 was a little more disappointing than the first. Don’t get me wrong the art was the same style of old comic book and the story line was still very interesting but the issue seemed a little like a filler between major action issues (at least that’s my hope).
