X-Force #5
Storyline: Angels & Demons part 5 (of 6)
Date: July 16th, 2008
Price: $2.99 US
Writers: Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle
Artist: Clayton Crain

Synopsis: It began with one simple mission: Kill the Purifier leader Matthew Risman before he kills any more mutants. But everything went to hell…and now it gets worse. Wolfsbane’s decent continues. War rages between Risman and Bastion. The Choir rises. And if that weren’t enough… it’s X-FORCE VERSUS ARCHANGEL.

Opinion: Archangel’s back!  And boy is he miffed about someone messing with his wings… AGAIN.  Warren Worthington took a trip to wussy town in the last several years, in my opinion.  This issue brings him back to a familiar form I know so well from my youth as an X-Men fan.  I for one, am super amped about the pure badass that is Archangel.

X-Force Ain\'t No Dog
Story Line: One Shot
Date: June 11th 2008
Price: $3.99
Writer: Charlie Huston and Jason Aaron
Artist: Jefte Palo and Werther Dell’Edera

Synopsis: There will be blood. Gallons of it. Because Cyclops needs only one scalpel for a surgical strike mission and Logan’s the ideal man for the job.  Tonight, Wolverine flies solo—dressed in black and operating off the grid.  And when the night is through, there will be mountains of corpses, and no one to answer to.  What could be better?  PLUS, this one-shot features a solo Warpath story, as he learns what it really means to go home again.

Opinion: Fresh off the heels of an X-Force issue the week before, the timing on this comic couldn’t have been any better.  With 48 pages of pure badass-ery and a fair price to boot; I am happy I bought this book.  It gave some writers and artists a chance to shine too.  There were a couple things I didn’t like but nothing that would push me over to disliking the book, just pure taste when it came to the writers’ storytelling.

X-Force 4
Storyline: Angels & Demons Part 4 (of 6)
Date: May 29th, 2008
Price: $2.99 US
Writer: Christopher Yost and Craig Kyle
Artist: Clayton Crain

Synopsis: The Purifiers have gathered the most deadly pieces of the X-Men’s past— but their plans are far from over…While Bastion continues to shape the future, Mathew Risman sets in motion an attack that will forever change two of our heroes. If the team can’t stop them from achieving their ultimate goal, mutantkind has little hope of survival.

Opinion: Ok, so I have been reading this series since issue #1 and while I haven’t been reviewing it, every single time a new one gets in my hands I find myself getting more and more excited about the premise and the story.  This issue not only introduced an exciting and original premise, but it also packed one hell of a punch on the last page that literally gave me goosebumps.
