ComicNerd Writing Staff

My name is JC and I built and run ComicNerd.com. I play on Xbox Live as apoklyptk (hence the apocalypse image) and my favorite character is Gambit.

I’m an X-Men fan and I always have been. I wish I was more into DC, but I find myself gravitating more towards Image and Marvel, with a bit of Darkhorse mixed in.

omg_brb_icecreamtruck is a comic book novice, but a World of Warcraft junkie. She enjoys Ghost Whisperer, Wildstorm’s WoW comic and movie tie-in comics. Her favorite character is Storm.

With a unique position of not being hypnotized or biased about comics she grew up on, omg_brb_icecreamtruck brings a fresh perspective to comics that is very valuable for ComicNerd.com

Plus she likes likes ice cream :p

HOLY CANOLI BATMAN!!!!! Is that who I think it is? Yes brave reader it is I Greg “redhollywood” Padilla. Many of you may not know who I am but you soon will. I hail from the deep south, more specifically, Mobile, Alabama, where blues, whiskey, and relaxing are a way of life.

I am a 26 year old nerd who loves him some comics. I am addicted and rehab is not in my near future.

I have a superboy named Aiden who is 9 months old and soon will start his flying lessons. Emily Padilla is my very own Marvel Girl whom I have been married to for one year. They are supportive of my habit and inspire me to write my own comics.

I have formed a dynamic duo with my brother-in-law and have started our own comic writing team under the moniker of Ruin Comics. We are currently looking for artist so if any of you fine illustrators are interested you can contact us at ruincomics@gmail.com. I hope you enjoy my reviews and if you have any comments or questions feel free to contact me at redhollywood@hotmail.com.

Greetings, fellow nerds! I’m Stephanie and I’ve been a comic book junkie for a couple years now. I’ve always been a geek. As a kid, I loved watching superhero cartoons and I grew up playing Nintendo and Playstation. I’ve always been a huge fan of Batman, but when I saw Batman Begins I was hooked and really started reading comics. My favorite superhero (besides Bats) is Wolverine, and I like Gambit a lot, too.

Along with writing for ComicNerd, I cover comics under the code name WITA over at the Girls Entertainment Network, which was founded by Video Game Live’s Becky Young. I also have my own blog, What Is Techno Again?—which is where my nickname comes from.

I live in Pennsylvania, where I’m currently studying as an English major. I hope to write and publish a novel one day, and after I graduate I would love to write for a magazine or find an outlet in the gaming, film, or comic industry. When I’m not writing (which I do a lot), I enjoy reading, listening to music, playing with my cats, gaming, and watching movies. I’m also fond of Star Wars, science fiction/fantasy, and songs about Superman.

Howdy Nerds!  Matt Baum (Mbomb), nice to meet ya’s. I’ve been the staff comic book writer at Worthpoint.com for a little more than a year now where I write a couple of blogs a week about comic collecting and trends in the back-issue market.  To think my parents said a Journalism degree would never pay off, look at me now dad…  Yes I’m writing for free and yes it’s still about comics…  Anyway, before college and culinary school, both of which I’m still finishing, I managed a comic shop for 7 years while touring as  a drummer in a few different bands.

I started reading comics at a very young age and, with the exception of a brief stint where I was too cool for my own good, have ever since.  Currently I work part time helping out at a small shop in Omaha called Legend Comics.  You can find me there ranting and raving every Thursday night.  Feel free to stop by and say hey.

Other wise you can catch my coffee-and-speed-metal induced rants right here on Comicnerd.com.  I’ll be writing reviews, looking at business trends of the comic market and generally screaming and yelling about your favorite funny books.  I thrive on feedback so tell me what you guys think.  If you agree with me then feed my ego.   If not, then threaten my life.  I can take it.  After all, we’re nerds, and for some of us our comics are the only thing that keep us going.  sniff…  sniff…

After a failed attempt of arguing the socialistic tendencies of Captain America, I have accepted my fate as a writer, critic, and purveyor of all things weird.

I began writing film reviews in my mid teens and have been doing it ever since. I am a film snob of the highest order but I particularly enjoy cult films (Blade Runner Eraserhead, ect…). Several of my short stories have been published and I am hoping to complete a longer work of fiction sometime before I am 30.

Comics came into my life only a few years ago when I picked up a copy of Civil War and have been hooked ever since. Marvel is the name of the game as far as I am concerned, but I am always willing to pick up a good indie issue or two.

Currently, I am working towards my masters in English. However, most of my time and energy goes into my fiction, a book on the most overrated films in history and my comic production company Ruin Comics, which I confounded with Greg Padilla.

You can read more about my work and reach me  at either my website or blog.

We’re looking for more writers! If you want to be here, please send us a message and let us know!
