On May 28th, the final arch in a two-decade trilogy is set to begin with Final Crisis #1. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and what could be the Flash will go toe to toe with the biggest crisis ever to hit the DCU as the nefarious Libra amasses an army of villains to exploit the negative downturns the DCU heroes have experienced in the last couple of years.
Grant Morrison (All-Star Superman) and J.G. Jones (52) are set to revolutionize the universe with their Final Crisis, but to some this is just another event. Do you think this is going to be the big deal that DC keeps saying it is? Is it really going to be the end of a trilogy, where everything gets wrapped up from a story started 20 years ago?
Either way, we have an exclusive look at 5 pages from Final Crisis #1: DOA: The God of War, plus a sketch layout of the evolution of Darkseid by J.G. Jones right here:

Since I am ignorant of all things DCU, does anyone know who the guy in red is that dies?

3Read the Death of the New Gods miniseries that just ended…should be in trade paperback soon. Basically the New Gods, Darkseid, Metron, Mister Miracle and the rest were all supposedly killed by The Source, an entity which created them. Orion supposedly killed his father Darkseid and was killed himself, but it seems he survived, and from what he says the New Gods are in fact alive. “I’m in you all” implies that Darkseid found someway to disperse his essence in people on Earth, or in some other way on the planet which accounts for the weather patterns.

4Chris!
You are so awesome - thank you for clearing that up. Like I said I’m not too hip to the DCU happenings, and I really appreciate your input!
Just for taking the time to help me out, send me your info at the contact form (linked above) and I will send you a brand new, bagged and boarded Final Crisis #1 courtesy of ComicNerd.com when it comes out.

6Mike - you got it - I’ll reserve you BOTH copies. I appreciate the help here.
By the way, do either of you have any insights about Batman R.I.P.? I picked up 676 yesterday and was just completely lost from page one, even after reading #675 (which seemed to make sense).
