Opinion: This is my first time getting into the series of Fathom so to all you existing fans I apologize in advance. This story is lame!! If I wanted to spend some time with Ariel I would watch the Disney movie! Don’t you know that mermaids are for girls under the age of 8?!

I know it’s just the prologue to get new people interested in the story line but give me a break! $2.50 for 12 pages of story! That’s a little ridiculous! The story is trying to give a little background, I can understand that but honestly save me my money and say, “same as ‘The Little Mermaid.”

Read the full review after the jump… it gets better :)

Really people, the humans and the mermaids are at war? The government doesn’t want everyone to know that people live under the ocean? Our heroine can be on land and water? Stop me if this doesn’t sound familiar… Ok so maybe they’re betting that no boys saw The Little Mermaid and this is all new to them. Good luck!

Ok, that was a little harsh - but still, a prologue shouldn’t be so expensive.

I will say that the art is good, though the words are written in the same ink as the background so you really have to strain to see them. The well sculpted people are nice too, though everyone knows if you spend your whole life swimming in the ocean you’ll come out with a tiny waste and huge knockers! Duh!

I’m going to give this mini series a chance, since I’ve already committed to one issue, but I’ll tell you my expectations are pretty low… don’t hold your breath (pun painfully intended).
