Posted by JC as Charlie Adlard, Image Comics, Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead

Storyline: Unspecified
Date: May 14, 2008
Price: $2.99 US
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Charlie Adlard
Synopsis: Everything is different now. Any information given here will spoil the story for you. Believe me when I tell you that this issue changes everything.
Opinion: The Walking Dead still packs the biggest punch in comics. I am still reeling after this issue, and I have no idea where Robert Kirkman is going to go from here. The art, as always, delivers and Charlie Adlard continues to put together a coherent and high quality flow in the book.
As with most Kirkman comics, I can’t go into this story without spoiling the story a bit. Please click through the jump to read my full review.
Michonne is shown cleaning up the aftermath of the big shootout from last issue. You see her shedding a single tear as she undertakes the arduous task of finishing off some of her old group. The scenes of the slaughter is a poignant moment, as Michonne wearily examines what is left.
Meanwhile we see Rick and his son flee through the woods, seeking shelter for safety and time to recuperate. All is not well with Rick, and we see him slip quickly from grief and exhaustion to sickness - and his son is faced with a single, most horrible truth about the world.
You must buy this issue to see what happens, and now is the best time as there is a Walking Dead special on the shelves currently that reprints issue #1 and gives you a bit of a primer on the story.
Either way - this is the best time to get into this book, it is now. There is a whole new corner being turned here and you’re missing out if you’re not on this ride.

1Hmm, never even heard of it. I’ll have to check it out, if it’s as good as you say it is!

3Many people complained this issue was too short and that nothing happend but I think it was a perfect transition after 48. We, as the readers, needed time to catch our breath as did the characters and I think Kirkman did a great job of that.
