Synopsis: For the young mouse Karic, the Mice Templar are merely an exciting legend. They were real, though, and a vicious civil war left them scattered and all mouse culture in the grip of brutal rat masters. When Karic’s family is enslaved, he realizes their only hope of freedom lies in his paws… if he can only find the courage and strength to become one of the legendary Templar himself.

Opinion: For the first time reading The Mice Templar, I have to say I am impressed!  The story and the setting made me think of the classic Richard Adams novel Watership Down (which is highly recommended btw).  It was a bit confusing at first, the panels weren’t particularly clear so it was hard to recognize who was who and after reading through the whole thing you quickly realized it didn’t matter much anyhow.  You’ll have to read it to see what I mean.

The lore contained in the story is a bit out there, but easily digestible.  Besides if you’re willing to accept little mice with a society and the ability to speak English then pretty much anything is easier to suspend disbelief for.

Overall I would recommend picking up issue 1-3 and see where the story goes, but it’s not essential.
