Wow, what a positive response and fine compliments on Contract. The art on issues 2 and 3 are fantastic, and certainly has a bit of the modern anime influence. The kicker to all this is the resolution to the story - such a contrast to the humor of earlier issues, you really feel the impact!

Couldn't agree more about the early Image books. Good art is important but if it overpowers the story and dialogue then the artist hasn't done his job correctly. Take a look at classic books from the 70s and 80s and see how many panels there are on a page and see how each panel links in with the diaologue and the plot. There was a good synergy between all three and that's what Contract reminds me of. This seems to be a lost art form these days.

Yeah I agree with you statement michael. When Image first started out the stories weren't that strong. The art was fantastic but most of those guys were used to doing only art. It is good that Image has improved vastly.

Hmmm... Maybe I will not let myself be swayed and pick this up. I'm and so much a victim of the early 90's Image boom that when I see similar styles of art I shy away. I don't know how many people are familiar with those books, big on art, really small on story. Good plots influence all my comic decisions now. I love a good plot, and I'm reading enough positives about the story that this may be a diamond in the rough.
