Synopsis: Wannabez follows regular people who have mistaken bizarre coincidences as the acquisition of super powers! Now banded together, these new heroes strive to be more than who they are. These people are WANNABEZ! Dober-Man! Streak! Ignition! Slim! Mau! Esmerelda! In Mysterious Visions Anthology #5, the Wannabez story explores some of the origins of our heroes and shows them in action in some of their first adventures…. and first mishaps. Fun for all ages!
Opinion: In this independent comic we find out the origins of the Wannabez. A team of over-the-top superheros who have dedicated their lives to fight crime. If I could describe this comic in one word it would be “Spooftastic!” Read the rest of my review after the jump.
This comic is hilarious. Brant Fowler has done a superb job in spoofing all that is ridiculous in comics. The reader will find references to pop culture as well as Who wants to be a superhero? I found a reference to a certain NBC superhero show to be particularly funny.
This comic is very entertaining. It will open your eyes to how ridiculous comics used to be. The art compliments the writing well. It is chock full of hidden references within the art that you could easily overlook. I must say that I love the drawing of a certain comics legend…. guess you’ll have to read it to see who I’m talking about!
Very well done and very enjoyable. This #0 issue is packaged inside the Mysterious Visions Anthology #5, together with “To Catch a Human” by Jennifer Zelasco and “Yokai” by Cheska and Greg Eales. The entire comic comprises of 3 individual stories and is over 44 pages long! Worth the price of admition for some laughs and adventure.

Ohh cool idea to include some pages from the comic, Red.
Lol sounds pretty cool. One thing I liked about Pilot Season: Twilight Guardian when I reviewed it for GEN was the comic spoofing that Hickman included. It was pretty damn amusing. So I’ll have to read this—it’s on my computer already, of course.
Haha, I need to get moving on the Contract front … Getting there! I should be able to do it this week. I’ve been having a LOT of free comic pdfs thrown at me between this site and GEN. LOL, it’s a dream come true and a nightmare all at the same time, ahhh! xD
