Marvel?? The Initiative versus an army of Super-Skrulls? Is Tony Stark really a- -? And who’s that guy with an eye patch coming to save the day?? And, oh man, who did he bring with him?
Opinion: The @#!& has hit the proverbial fan in the Marvel Universe as we watch the continued attacks of the Skrull Empire upon Earth in this third installment of this summer’s Secret Invasion event. Needless to say, things are bad. Really bad. In fact, the Skrulls are so convinced of their apparent victory that they offer the Director of Shield a complete and unconditional surrender. Yeah folks, things aren’t looking good.

Marvel has a history of botching its company wide events but they have managed the Invasion perfectly. Issue 3 continues on this trend, as we are delivered an exciting mix of action and reflection which touches upon nearly all the major events and characters. We watch as the Initiative and the Young Avengers rally a defense in New York as both teams of the Avengers are busy playing with themselves in the savage land (Editor’s note: As funny as that sounds, it’s actually true! Oh Marvel, how dirty you make us sound) . However, it appears as if this is not enough as, dear readers, we witness the deaths of multiple heroes.
I don’t wish to give any spoilers, but there is a potential for one of the most dramatic unveiling to happen in Marvel since, well, ever. Its potential repercussions will be felt quite some time and will change the way that we look at the last few years of comic-dom. That is, if it turns out to be true.
The genius of this issue is that it hypes the reader so much that you can’t help but be excited about issue four. Sure, it’s a month away but this reader finds himself thinking solely about SI when reading comics. Surely this will lead me to buying more and more tie-ins and specials related to the Invasion.
Touché , Marvel. Touché.

2Oh ya, it really is fantastic. The Secret Invasion basically is the Marvel universe right now.

5Yeah DC has been really weak the past few years and I don’t feel that Final Crisis will hold a candle to SI.

6Probably not. I’ve heard a lot better stuff about SI than FC … Marvel characters are just more interesting.
(Now, if Batman were a Marvel … the Universe would be a much happier and more complete place. ;D )

9Yeah, pretty big news which is why I’m so mad about the surgery - put me so behind in homework I just don’t have the time to be working on covering that kinda stuff on this site.

10I’d volunteer but I’m pretty busy between sites, lol, and I need to de-stress as much as possible because I’m running out of creative juice/energy and need to recharge, so to speak, lol. =)

11Oh Stephanie please don’t worry about it, I know you do so much as it is. It’s no big deal. One of the biggest lessons I’m learning from this site is that you’ll go nuts if you try to stay on top of and cover everything going on.

14Heh, me either. The only real exposure I get to DC is through Batman-related comics. That’s about it, really—with the exception here and there, of course.
