Storyline: Sins of the Father part 2 (of 3)
Date: May 28, 2008
Price: $2.99 US
Writer: Mike Carey
Artist: Scot Eaton
Synopsis: Sins of the Father, part 2 of 3. Professor X is trying to rebuild memories of his past using other people’s minds. But the past is coming back to haunt him in another way, as a swathe of tragic deaths turns out to be linked by only one factor: Brian Xavier, the Professor’s long-dead father. And solving the mystery means paying a visit to the Hellfire Club…
Opinion: Gambit’s Back!!! Last issue we left off with some assassins sneaking up on ‘ole Chuck and Gambit was revealed on the last page getting the drop on them. It is so awesome seeing the mischievous X-Man back in the book, and not in such a gray area of which side he’s on. I wish more writers would take this character seriously. I’m a bit biased, because my favorite character shows up, but this really is shaping up to be an excellent storyline. Much better than what’s going on in Uncanny X-men, presently.

As always the cajun comes through, outsmarting his opponents to get the upper hand (which is classic Gambit, instead of fawning over Rogue the whole damn time - Thanks Mike Carey!!!) Professor X steps in and saves Remy’s arse in return. We learn from the exchange between the two that Xavier initially doesn’t recognize Remy, and Remy was unclear on Xavier being alive.
Later, we see some hints as to the possibility that something… else may have woken within Xavier’s psyche… would they do it? Who knows! Either way an interesting tidbit is that the Gambit hologram was on the front cover of X-Men #25, in Fatal Attractions. If you remember - this is where Xavier FUBAR’d Magneto’s mind and the seed was planted for Onslaught. Interesting little bit of info there, huh? Just a theory.
This issue is jam packed with some undiscovered history, action, good dialog and old fashion Cajun fun. ComicNerd compels you to buy this issue and enjoy it!
