Zenn-La, the planet of his birth, the planet he saved through his own sacrifice — the Silver Surfer crossed the galaxy to draw his last breath here. He’s home. What waits for him?

Opinion: While the idea of killing off Silver Surfer, especially after the commercial success of Fantastic Four 2, does not strike me as a smart idea nor good timing, I have to say this mini series had some exceptional writing, of course. Once again Straczynski delivers! And the artwork is simply breathtaking. It rings a bit of Alex Ross, but the style stands alone enough to add to Esad Ribic’s portfolio. The interaction between Silver Surfer and old allies such as Spider-Man and Reed Richards is intimate and meaningful, and the tributary tone of the books lends quite a bit to Surfer’s legacy. This final issue though is a bit short, and seems to be a quick wrap-up to what could go on for about one more issue.

With all this said, I couldn’t help but feel like it was a waste of time and money, as it’s just too hard to believe that Marvel would kill off Silver Surfer.

Who knows, though - things have been pretty weird at the house of ideas as of late.
