Opinion: WHOA.

Could this storyline get any better? Scratch that, I think it can—and will. Paul Dini’s on a roll, and he’s picking up so much speed that he’s on fire. And Dustin Nguyen … well, that man is just outdoing himself with every issue. Simply GORGEOUS.

All-Star Batman & Robin, the Boy Wonder Volume 1 (which collects issues 1-9) is written by Frank Miller and the art is by my absolute favorite comic book artist, Jim Lee.

Basically, All-Star B&R is a retelling (following the tradition of DC All Star books) of the Dynamic Duo: Batman and Robin. As the comic progresses, we see other familiar characters-like what is an early Justice League (with Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, and Plastic Man) as well as Huntress and Black Canary-come into play and form varying and intriguing relationships with the Dark Knight. The comic succeeds in that it’s fresh and interesting—and honestly, it’s hilarious.

Without giving anything away I can tell you, our most esteemed readers, that the ultimate alliance of Cap’s most powerful enemies is finally starting to show some cracks in the armor as dissent flairs up between the megalomaniac evil doers.

Before I move on and just so you know, we were supposed to see Cluemaster (Stephanie Brown’s father) as the villain in this, but because Chuck Dixon got kicked out we get none other than …
