Synopsis: The hit NBC television series comes to comics as Chuck Bartowski and his friends are about to take the world by storm—literally! From series co-executive producer Peter Johnson (Supernatural: Rising Son) and series writer Zev Borow joined with artists Jeremy Haun (The Leading Man) and Phil Noto (Jonah Hex) comes an adventure too big for television!
In this globe-trotting, action-packed adventure, Chuck will see many exotic locales, dodge numerous bullets, and be tortured by the world’s greatest…tickler?
Opinion: For those of you who watched the show last fall, Chuck issue #1 is a great follow up. The art does a great job of capturing likenesses of the people who played in the show and the story line has all the same elements that the episodes on TV did. One complaint I have is the script is not as campy with humor as the TV show. If we’re going to make comparisons the script writers for the show did a better job at the humor than the comic. Chuck’s jokes are usually enjoyable in the show, in the comic they fall dead. No pun intended.
Read my full review after the jump.
Quite frankly, it’s kind of boring since it’s exactly the same and the TV show wasn’t really that good. Don’t get me wrong, it’s entertaining but that and “good” are not really one and the same. Like I said earlier the plot was good, a new story of Chuck saving the day with his photographic memory. Oh wait, not to give away an ending but he didn’t save any day. The bad guys got away after releasing all the other bad guys from prison… The same bad guys that Chuck put there.
Ummm well sorry for a short review but that was it, nothing more to report unless you want me to keep complaining… If you really liked the TV show go ahead and see for yourself but if you never saw the show on TV or didn’t like it I recommend spending your money on something else.
P.S. The very end of the comic has some tips by Captian Awesome on how to be “awesome!” Best part of the book if you ask me. Inside joke for those of you who’ve never seen the TV show.

1I’m not surprised that you said the comic wasn’t that great. That tends to be the result when something from tv gets translated into a comic.
But I love Chuck, the tv show! And yeah, I get what you mean about the difference between “entertaining” and “good.” You’re probably right—but still, I hope there’s more episodes of that show.
